I have been receiving numerous complaints from residents re sewage flowing into the Baakens River Valley. I have thus sent the following e-mail, yesterday, to all officials involved in the previous clean-up.
“…All my previous e-mails during the past year refer. I have received the following e-mail from a very irate resident and have been receiving numerous similar e-mails since yesterday. We need action IMMEDIATELY to sort out this problem once and for all!!!!
According to the Metro Minutes we received from Patrick Cull quoted from the Minister of water and Environmental Affairs, Minister Edna Molewa: “… the upgrading had been completed at the beginning of October and a handover inspection had taken place on October 27…”
I want confirmation within 24 hours that this problem has been attended to and a report (with time lines) given of how this problem will be fixed PERMANENTLY as promised by the Metro in previous correspondence.
I see this as a serious and urgent matter and we need action NOW!!!!!!!….”
Kindly take note that I received an e-mail from Mr Barry Martin of the Metro this morning indicating that all blockages were cleared this morning.
According to Metro officials, the problem in the Baakens river was attended to previously. Thanks to Mr Deon van der Poll and his team from the Metro who were involved in the previous clean-up “mission”. According to him, the latest spillage is not as a result of the previous problems (which they have attended to).
Thanks to all the e-mails I received w.r.t. the latest spillage. It is good to know that the residents are showing so much interest and are so protective of our valley!
