As part of a new initiative to strengthen community bonds and foster greater communication between local residents, business, schools and religious organisations within Sydenham, the Sydenham Sector Crime Forum has launched its own Sydenham community website.

The creators hope is to turn the site into a communications hub for the community and offer an alternative means of communication that will create the opportunity for community members to interact with one another online and allow for the mutual sharing of information and discussion of various topics and ideas aimed at community development and crime prevention.

Sydenham Community Liaison and Web Administrator, Lee Ah Kun, says; “Communication is a key element in any development scheme and essential to enacting lasting change. It’s one of the reasons why we’d like to get people chatting and offer them the chance to get to know one another better so that together, we can build a stronger community. We hope the community will support this project and encourage members to start typing and also help spread the word about its existence.”

The newly launched web site has a number of areas of interest for Sydenham residents:

  • Latest News- Reporting the latest news submitted by community members and stories of interest collected from various news feeds.
  • Community Chat Forum – Community members can raise and discuss various topics of interest and post information such as crime incidents, scam warnings and suspicious activities.
  • Sector Policing – Read about the Sector Crime Forum and Neighbourhood Watch initiative. Community members can also read the latest Community Crime Reports, and ATLAS Security’s Monthly Crime Snapshots and crime prevention tips.
  • Community Projects – Learn about existing and forthcoming community projects.
  • Community Gallery – Budding photographers and artists can display their pictures and works of art for the community.
  • Events Diary – Listing events taking place in and around Sydenham.
  • RSS Feeds – Community members can subscribe to the site’s various feeds.
