PE Mail Centre donates blankets and soup ahead of the cold winter

On 7 June 2012 the South Africa Post Office (SA Post Office) handed over blankets and soup to 30 homeless people living in the Summerstrand bush in Port Elizabeth. The items for donation were the result of a three week internal charity drive at the PE Mail Centre. The donation drive was a partnership between the SA Post Office and Telecom Christian Association, where staff from both organisations generously gave towards those in need.

The project was spearheaded by Nomqubelo Ngubane, SA Post Office regional retail manager, who acknowledged the importance for her staff to give back to those in need. Speaking at the handover Ngubane said that the winter chill was starting to set in and it was critical to give help to those who are less privileged. “We will see temperatures plummeting to below nine degrees this week and it is only right that we extend a compassionate hand to those left most vulnerable. ”

“There are many people out there who will go to bed cold and hungry, we encourage fellow businesses and community members to also open up their hearts in whatever way they can,” concluded Ngubane.
