At 14h14, Monday, 04th May, NSRI Port Elizabeth launched the sea rescue craft EIKOS RESCUER IV accompanied by an EC Government Health EMS rescue paramedic, to rendezvous with the floating drill platform ROWAN RELENTLESS, sailing from Mauritius to the Bahamas, to casualty evacuate two crew, a 33 year old male suffering a back injury and a 30 year old male suffering a knee injury.
On arrival on the scene, 5 nautical miles South East of Cape Recife, both casualty crew were transferred onto the sea rescue craft and brought to shore where an EMS ambulance transported them to hospital in stable conditions for further treatment.
It is not known to NSRI what caused the injuries.
