Open Letter to the SA President

18 June 2012 By Alan Straton

Dear Sir

What South Africa needs is set of leaders that put South Africa first.

What South Africa needs is a set of leaders so committed to South Africa that we DO NOT KNOW or even CARE what political party they represent.

South African citizens want to once again feel pride and immense love for our country.

South African citizens want to once again feel loved by their leaders.

Have the courage and conviction to address one rallying call that will unite and show South Africans that we have a higher purpose in life.

I implore you to become that great statesman.

Regards

ALAN STRATON

PS – Greater citizens than I will enter this discourse and make suggestions – mine is simple one: Spend money on education, give the youth hope and purpose and leave a lasting legacy.

PPS – the inspiration for this letter also came from greater citizens than I – see below:

@HajraOmarjee @kafflut why is it sad? I'm sure @SApresident have more important places to be, not @MyPE 🙁 @AshaRanchhod @eNewsChannel

— Ramon J. Thomas ??? (@RamonJThomasMBA) June 16, 2012

what do you mean? “@MyPE: @HajraOmarjee @eNewsChannel Because concern that budgeted money for event could be wasted”

— Hajra (@HajraOmarjee) June 16, 2012

Only 44% of SA's 15-24 ('born-free' gen:born post '94) year olds think government adequately deals with crime issue #IPSOS #June16 #YouthDay

Just met Marie, young white woman determined to work as government doctor in trauma unit of state hospital. My kind of youth day

It will be a shame to see government celebrating youth day, in this rally like manner, while kids still attend school in mud classes

Amazingly, the education department still achieves the results that the apartheid government wanted for black children.

President Jacob Zuma was endorsed by Leadership Magazine and extensively by Maverick (before it became an online only magazine).  How these publications came to their conclusions is mostly using political rhetoric. Mr Zuma does not have a good track record, suitable credentials nor qualifications.

I have met most of the staff at Daily Maverick from the editor Branko Brkic to the eternal pessimist Ivo Vegter and for the most part it was an underwhelming experience. For this reason and others I have tuned out of most political commentary unless it involves the economy.
