The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality would like to inform residents, businesses and other stakeholders that yesterday, September 27, 2018 Council took a decision to put the City Manager, Mr Johann Mettler on precautionary suspension.
At this stage, the Municipality will not interact in public or through the media about the allegations that culminated in the suspension of the City Manager. This issue in still at a sensitive stage. The Municipality also wishes to maintain employer-employee confidentiality regarding this matter.
Current Executive Director for Human Settlements, Miss Nolwandle Gqiba, has been appointed as the Acting City Manager. The media and the public will be kept abreast of relevant developments in the matter.
