Nelson Mandela Bay Heritage Day activities

Nelson Mandela Bay will be a hive of activities on Heritage Day tomorrow (Tuesday, 24 September) with three important events taking place in our city renowned for its struggle and cultural heritage.

Heritage Day Debate

The first of three events will kick off at 11am at the Nangoza Jebe Hall when Percy Lamani, well-known KQ FM and Bay TV presenter, leads a Heritage Day Debate where the topic “What does heritage mean to you as a young person?” will be discussed. He will enjoy the company of anti-apartheid hero and Nelson Mandela Bay Executive Mayor Ben Fihla, the Chief Executive of Nelson Mandela Bay Tourism Mandlakasi Skefile amongst others.

Motherwell Alive Heritage Day Celebrations

The Motherwell Nelson Mandela Peace Park, the place where anti-apartheid activist Dr Nelson Mandela addressed people of the Eastern Cape after his release from prison, will be the venue where the music of artists like DJ Ganyani, DJ Biggs and Deep Unit can be enjoyed from 12:00 to 20:00.

  • Time: 12:00 – 20:00

Heritage Day Music Concert

Nangoza Jebe will undoubtedly be the place to be from 18:00 until 22:00 to enjoy a clever mix of national and various local artists. Ntando, Heavy K, Genesix, Kuyasa Traditional Dancers and many more will give it their all on the New Brighton stage.

Editor: And in other activities across the metro people will be indulging in a bit of Shishanyama seeing as our council insists on only holding events in areas where their political support is secure.
