My ANC Experience, Deleted

9 May 2011 By Alan Straton

Dear Mr Editor

Over the weekend I decided to join the ANC Facebook page. It was great, I was able to add my comments, where I believed facts were erroneous or if I truly didn’t understand their logic, for example they published the following info this AM – ANC – The Western Cape has a Gini coefficient (a measure of the degree of inequality in the distribution of income, with 1 signifying maximum inequality) of 0.6, the lowest in the country, against a national average of 0.65. And the Western Cape has an average household (annual) income of R165 000, the highest in the country against … R119 000.

Now, if this were to be true, it would mean that the WC residents are actually doing quite well, it would mean that the AVERAGE salary of all the residents (Whites, Blacks, Coloureds and Indians) working in the WC earn an AVERAGE of R165 000 per Annum.

After I commented and quite a few of the members ‘liked’ my comment, my comment was deleted and I was removed from the group. I am also a member of the major opposition parties page where vigorous debate with all is encouraged. Now my question to you is – do the ANC truly believe in freedom of speech and do they value anyone’s opinion that challenges their own point of view?

Kind regards,

“Twisted Sista“

Passionate about Port Elizabeth and definitely NOT packing for Perth. Alan's ethos is epitomised in the words of Nelson Mandela; "I have fought against white domination and I have fought against black domination. I have cherished the idea of a democratic and free society. If need be, it is an ideal for which I am prepared to die." See more articles by Alan.

Hardly surprising – their open governance left the house when Nelson Mandela retired.

Hardly surprising as even when the “power is in your hands” they are deleting comments all over

It is so sad that the ANC manage to feed all sorts of nonsense to people to get votes. My nanny was telling me yesterday that over the weekend her little RDP house was flooded. Everything was wet and had to take all of her goods outside yesterday to dry, of course at the risk of having her possessions stolen, as she was at work. What freaks me out is with just a bit more care and forethought these poor people wouldn’t have to suffer as much.
