Services at the Korsten, Sidwell and Uitenhage Traffic and Licensing Departments were affected as a result of the municipal strike in Nelson Mandela Bay. Municipal Spokesperson, Kupido Baron reports this afternoon that all are back up and working again.
But, residents are notified that the industrial action might affect their transactions and if they consider postponing their trip to the abovementioned centres, it is encouraged.
Possible strike related criminal activities took place last night when properties of municipal staff were petrol bombed during the early hours of this morning.
In Seyisi Street KwaZakhele an attempt was made to petrol bomb a house at 02:29 but it was unsuccessful. Unfortunately another employee’s Toyota Conquest was completely destroyed a minute later in Siwa Street, also in KwaZakhele when the bomb ignited.
Waste Management Services is still continuing at this stage and residents must stick to the normal municipal cycle of putting out their household waste for collection.
The following Customer Care Centres are currently open: Korsten, Cleary Park, Daleview, Mthombolwazi and the centre located at the Motherwell Shopping Centre.
The payment of municipal accounts can be made at any branch of Standard bank, Post Office, via IVR (Pay-by-phone) and via internet banking, once payment is made, customers should be encouraged to fax proof of payment to 041-5061442 or 041-506 1304.
If a customer’s supply is disconnected they need to pay all arrears reflected on their statement and fax the receipt to 041-506 1442 for reconnection.
