All 22 libraries of the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality will be closed until the municipal workers strike, that today reached its eight day, is over. Staff at the libraries were intimidated since Monday by striking workers and the decision to close the facilities was made in order to ensure the safety of the staff as well as the buildings.
Residents whose library books must be returned during this period can call the library to renew the borrowing period of their books. All necessary measures will also be taken to ensure that the penalties accrued over this period will be waived.
The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality regrets any inconvenience caused as a result of the closure.
