The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality will host its annual Bay Stars Employee Excellence Awards at the Radisson Blu Hotel on 8 December 2011. The event comes shortly after one of last year’s winners, Heidi Marais, an environmental health practitioner, scooped a national award in Pretoria last week, underscoring the success of the municipality’s excellence initiative.
The awards are held annually to celebrate top achievers within the municipality as elected by community members and their fellow colleagues for their excellence. Portfolio Chairperson for Corporate Services, Cllr Nomamerica Magopeni, says she is happy that the awards this year will be held after Marais won the national award.
“This is a vote of confidence on the credibility, quality and integrity of our excellence awards. It shows that we are rewarding excellence indeed,” said Cllr. Magopeni.
“This will go a long way in our quest to improve the quality and efficiency of our services to residents. Municipal employees will be encouraged to do better each time they perform their tasks.”
