Workers from the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality’s Electricity and Energy department are working around the clock in an effort to restore electricity supply to numerous rural areas such as Van Stadens Gorge, Thornhill, Rocklands and Gamtoos after a 66kV tower came down on the Summit/Ditchling line.
Currently the strong wind is affecting repair work which will entail the erection of a temporary structure and the reinstatement of conductors.
We are working hard to restore electricity supply to these areas by tomorrow but unfortunately cannot provide an exact timeframe at this stage.
