On Saturday 16 August, teams consisting of one blind and one sighted person will be competing in the Continental 5km Fun Run/Walk hosted by Body Concept Road Warriors at Pollock Beach Summerstrand.

Students from Varsity College will serve as guides to blind partners from the Nkosinathi Foundation, of and for blind and partially sighted people and will together participate in an experience that would benefit all.

The Nkosinathi Foundation’s goal is to support blind and partially sighted people to overcome the challenges of being blind and to reach their full potential through the independent living skills training and supportive services.

Varsity College Student Relations Manager Jaci Howell says: “this event has become a much loved event among the students on campus and is seen as an extraordinary experience that not only makes for great story telling but also provides the students with a platform to give back to the community”.

This initiative by Varsity College is kindly supported by the Body Concept Road Warriors who waive the entry fees for the blind and partially sighted participants every year and accommodate practical arrangements that enables these teams to create awareness amongst the general public.
