The Sunday 28 May KentonXtreme event was a huge success, held in near perfect weather at Kenton-on-Sea over the weekend. Port Elizabeth’s Craig Tunstead won the very extreme 53km Mountain Bike route in a time of 2hrs 57min 09sec from fellow Port Elizabethean Daniel Howitz (2:57:14) with Addo’s Louis De Villiers (3:02:48) placing 3rd. Jeffreys Bay’s Heidi Koen proved too tough on the day winning the ladies race in 3hrs 24min from Esthea De villiers and Carol Bernard. Following the recent heavy rains, conditions for the cyclists proved very tough under foot with the last entrants finishing in over 5hrs.
Antonio Seconds ran a hard race to win the Pam Golding Kenton 10km Beach Run in 39min 44sec from Siyabulela Nomoyi and Tim Ellerbeck with Kerry Longhurst winning the ladies race from Lydia Taylor and Heather Paton. In the 20km MTB race, Sinethemba May took the line honours from Philip Wynne and Justin Cogan whilst Emma Wynne won the ladies race from Megan Coltman and Samantha Meaton.
