Human Settlements – Here comes the embarrassment for ANC Petitioners

14 December 2016 By Alan Straton

The opposition party in Nelson Mandela Bay, the ANC, delivered a petition to the new government on 1 December citing 13 ‘areas of concern’.

Here Nelson Mandela Bay Mayor Athol Trollip responds to the rambling petition statement in support of National and Provincial Departments which Trollip says; “… led to assassinations and the loss of millions of rands worth of municipal resources, not to mention the construction of woefully inadequate and sub-standard housing that led to a rectification scam of unprecedented proportions.”

In support of his reply Trollip cited a 34 page expose by Dr Crispian Olver – State capture at a local level – a case study of Nelson Mandela Bay.

An emailed comment: Listening to Athol Trollip is like taking a deep breath of fresh air. I really doubt that PE could have chosen a better person to turn things around and I wish him the very best in all of his endeavors. His ability to present argument in a calm manner is very impressive indeed. I, for one, am very very impressed!!
