Give a child a pair of shoes and they can conquer the world

6 November 2013 By Alan Straton

Top students from Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University’s School of Accounting recently collected “shoes for souls” for the children at Lukhanyiso Home in KwaNobuhle. The project is one of several community initiatives that have been adopted by the students, who are all recipients of the university’s prestigious Vice-Chancellor Scholarships.

VCS Mentoring and Leadership Programme coordinator (School of Accounting) Elize Naude said: “Not only are there physical benefits to wearing a pair of good shoes, but psychological ones too – give a child a pair of shoes and they can conquer the world.”
