On Saturday evening late, the apprentice longhair (my daughter, Brittany) was on her way home from work.
She stopped at the Mount Road / Govan Mbeki traffic lights and two men “with big sticks” approached her vehicle. The one on the passenger side attempted to open the door with no luck. Luckily she was able to drive away, through the red robot, and make good her escape.
Back home she was more traumatised about having to drive through the red robot than the fact that these miscreants could have caused her physical harm.
Chalking it down to an isolated incident we carried on life regardless until today when the Kangaroo (our son Philip) informed us that someone of our acquaintance had been attacked in a similar fashion on 12 February. Apparently the SAPS told her that they had had 60 reports of similar incidents this month alone.
The assumption then is that a gang of sorts is operating off of Govan Mbeki avenue.
Please exercise due caution when crossing Govan Mbeki in the areas bounded by Mount and Albany Roads lock your doors and when the robot is red late at night exercise due caution – if you think someone suspicious is approaching rather cross against the red and be fined and stay alive.
