With the number of votes coming from the Nelson Mandela Bay Metropole for the African National Congress and the Democratic Alliance being almost equal in the 2014 elections the ratepayers expect the following to happen in the lead up to the 2016 Municipal Election:
- No more parties thrown at the drop of a hat
- The appointment of permanent, suitably qualified, non political appointee municipal directors
- The finalising of the Kabuso and Pikoli Reports
- No more corruption
- A rates and utilities increase holiday until 2016
- A ruling party that puts the people of the Metro first and not their politics/cronies/masters
- An opposition that provides constructive helpful criticism geared to the benefit of the ratepayer
- A growing economy that provides real jobs
- An end to the fight with the High Energy User Group
- Recognition that the business of business is business
- Relaxation of petty administrative hurdles to small business
- The creation and maintenance of a winning competitive atmosphere that will create confident and successful citizens
Get all the above right and the ANC will retain power come 2016
Get the above wrong and the next bunch of persons who are ‘strangers to the truth’ will become the ruling party
Do I make myself clear?

Let us make the years up until 2016 ones in which we as ratepayers demand excellence from our municipality and deny political interference. We deserve a local municipality that spends our money wisely and compassionately in a way that encourages our citizens to feel pride and want to voluntarily contribute to making our city the greatest in SA.
