The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality will host the National Film and Video Foundation (NFVF) next week in a workshop that is meant to educate current and aspirant film makers about the opportunities that are available for those that need funding for scripts or ideas
People who have an interest in the film industry are invited to the workshop that will be held on Monday, 31 January 2011, at the Port Elizabeth City Hall Auditorium at 10:00 am.
The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality is also in negotiations with the NFVF to begin a script development course here in the Eastern Cape in which aspirant writers can enroll. The foundation currently runs this course in Johannesburg and Cape Town. They have already expressed interest in extending it to Nelson Mandela Bay should there be enough interest among locals and the entire Eastern Cape.
The course will come in handy in the Municipality’s efforts to create a vibrant film industry as it will bring much needed skills and information in a region with so much potential as studies have shown.
When these films are funded we will begin to see feature films being shot here in the Bay by local film makers. We would like to encourage people to come so they can gain the invaluable knowledge from the foundation.
