Dear WD40

26 May 2011 By Alan Straton

I have irrefutable proof that at least TWO loyal ANC cadres do read MyPE ……..

If you need to catch up on this view have a look at the comments by Wd7464610 (aka ‘the slippery one’ or WD40 for short) at the bottom of this article on MyPE: The Most Viewed Article on MyPE this Year.

As you will see from the comments there is some debate going on as to whether the 18 May Election Poll on MyPE was manipulated by some mysterious 3rd force or not.

Be that as it may I am sure that you will agree with me that the The New Age publication is, shall we say, ‘friendly’, towards the ANC? With that in mind I present irrefutable proof that at least two ‘friendly towards the ANC’ New Age journalists – Mawande Jack and Max Matavire – have visited MyPE recently.

How do I know this? Simple – Each time they visited they ‘lovingly stole’ an image of our esteemed Mayor, Zanoxolo Wayile from the pages of MyPE.

See on the New Age site: ‘Wasteful’ Faku must repay money and Provocative Faku ’embarasses’ ANC. In these two articles you will see an image of our trendy bespectacled Mayor which was lifted from this article – Say Hello to Your New Mayor, Zanoxolo Wayile – on MyPE. (Image reproduced below for the click averse!)

Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality Mayor, Zanoxolo Wayile

Granted the New Age did accredit MyPE with some text, get it right though, guys – it is MyPE.co.za and not MYPE or myPE – OKAY?

It is the norm to credit a photographer who is not paid or been commissioned for his/her images with a link back to his/her site (Notice that I have unselfishly linked back to the New Age TWICE and WITHOUT having ‘lovingly stolen’ anything from them either). The same norm applies for the lifting of text – a visible link back to the author is the very least mark of acknowledgement required.

So, Messrs New Age why did you remove the text watermark on the image taken by www.MyPE.co.za?

People often benefit from hindsight and reading the Say Hello to Your New Mayor, Zanoxolo Wayile article one can see a quote from DA Ward 2 Councillor, Dean Biddulph, who questioned whether the re-deployment of ex-Mayor Maphazi and new Mayor Wayile could legally go ahead without a full sitting of council and further said; “The ongoing ANC infighting is like an early Christmas present for the ANC opposition and goes to show that the continued failed policies of cadre deployment continue to leave the residents of this Metro short changed in respect of service delivery and accountable government. Merry Christmas Mayor Wayile”

Maybe, in light of Comrade Giraffe’s (Nceba Faku) recent idiotic remarks, the ANC should now come to the realisation that they have become their own worst enemy and a poster boy (Am I allowed to say ‘boy’?) for the opposition.
