Dear NMB Stadium Turn Your Frigging Music Down

Put yourself in my position:

  • I love our new stadium
  • I believe wholeheartedly that the stadium will be a success
  • I excuse the stadium most of their transgressions
  • I promote the stadium at every opportunity I get

AND, what do I get as a thank you?

Farging noise and empty promises.

A couple of weeks back the noise levels from the stadium were quite high and I spent a sleepless night – I didn’t publish a word about my sad experience as I was ASSURED by stadium management that they would handle future events in a far better fashion.

Well – the NMB Sevens, Rugby’s biggest party, is on the go and I cannot sleep for the noise and NMB Stadium Management have thrown their neighbours a middle finger with ‘musicians’ who declare that they are going to; “Wake this city up” – listen to the recording below.

Never mind that I have devoted reams of column centimetres to promoting the stadium and rugby’s “biggest party” and desperately need some sleep before dedicating tomorrow to the same thing …………..

Stadium gives Port Elizabeth the Middle Finger

The above was recorded using my tablet – no enhancements. We are in Parsons Hill overlooking the stadium. Last night’s noise was far less. Listen on for my comments as the noise levels continue. It is close to 11:00 pm as I post this article.

Am I being the proverbial Afrikaans four sided box? Should I just allow the stadium to continue with this abuse?

      Glenn – you need to be nice and turn the music down, although the NMB Stadium management PROMISED me that they would purchase their own equipment to monitor the sound levels AND they promised me that they would communicate with ALL their neighbours BEFORE making a noise. FAIL and FAIL.
