The entire methodology employed at present in terms of liquor license applications must be reviewed. I would like to suggest that a moratorium on liquor license applicatons be introduced and during this time a review of all the licences which are currently active be carried out.
This action will create a situation where the illegal sale and abuse of alcohol can be addressed.
I must inform you that I have had total support for this initiative from BAC (Business against Crime) and the Mount Road CPF (Community Police Forum).
Incidently Gauteng have adopted this policy and have instituted a moratorium until next year.
