It’s nearly time to dig out the swimming costumes which have been languishing in the far reaches of cupboards for the traditional early morning dip in the sea on September 1st to welcome spring.
The Spring Day dip was started by Algoa FM in 2014, and it has become an annual event due to the turnout, says Algoa FM programme manager Baydu Adams.
Beaches to head to on Spring Day are Nahoon in East London and Hobie in Port Elizabeth.
With cold weather also being traditional for the Spring Day dip, warming coffee will be served on the beach from around a quarter to seven.
First to dip their toes in the water in East London will be the afternoon drive presenter in East London Gordon Graham.
In Port Elizabeth it will be DMB presenter Charlton Tobias.
They will take to the water “come rain, wind or shine” at about seven twenty, according to Adams.
