Spitfire and Oxford Restorations continue apace
The PE SAAF Museum have a number of restoration projects underway. Volunteers give of their time, expertise and material as they restore these old flying machines. The Nelson Mandela Metropolitan Art Museum will host a music workshop over 4 days from the 3 - 6 March 2015. The presenters will be Madosini Lathozi Mpahleni and Pedro Espi-Sanchis who are international performers and last year alone visited France, Spain and Italy. Madosini is the best player of the Uhadi, Umhube bows and the Isitolotolo. New Bayworld Seal Pups
The Port Elizabeth Museum (Bayworld) has announced the birth of two new seal pups. The happy couple Lexi and Lucki had their pup on 23 November 2014, a male pup. Sammy and Lucki's pup was born on 7 December 2014, a female pup. Seals have delayed implantation, so their foetus only implants 3 months after fertilization. The normal 9 month gestation period follows afterwards. With seals, the first 10 days of a pup's life is critical. Buying tickets to the Baywest Port Elizabeth Airshow on 25 October just got a whole lot easier. You can avoid the queues at the gate and buy tickets online. Attempted theft leads to temporary closure of PE Saaf Museum
Two factors are behind the current temporary closure of the SA Air Force (SAAF) Museum at AFB Zwartkop as well as its satellites at Air Force Bases Port Elizabeth and Ysterplaat.
