The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality’s Joint Operation Centre (JOC) is currently requesting the public to assist with donations of blankets, mattresses and disposable nappies.
If people are in a position to assist they can contact the JOC at 041 501 7992.
The South African National Defense Force assisted with a medical relief effort in the Baviaans Kloof at the Cambria Lodge. Although guests in this facility and at Rooihoek were cut off due to roads being flooded in the area, the medical relief effort was embarked on since no rescue effort was required.
Only the New Coega Road near the Coega Hotel is currently closed due to a flooded bridge.
Some parts of Nelson Mandela Bay is currently still facing electricity outages due to cable faults as a result of the inclement weather over the last couple of days. Although no timeframes are available, workers are working tirelessly to ensure the restoration of supply to all areas.
