The Nelson Mandela Metropolitan Art Museum is inviting all artists 18 years or older, living in the Eastern Cape, to submit work for two group exhibitions which will form part of the Nelson Mandela Bay Fine Art Fringe during the the 2012 National Arts Festival.
The first exhibition, organized by Ceramics SA – Eastern Cape, is titled “In Praise of Vessels”. This exhibition presents ceramics, sculpture and other three-dimensional creative disciplines, which aspires to look at the nuances of the vessel in the context of the Eastern Cape coast, the Indian Ocean and the relationship between art and maritime trade.
The second exhibition is organized by The Friends of the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan Art Museum and the theme is titled “Treasures”. This exhibition challenges all artists – whether painter, crafter, photographer, sculpture, bead worker or designer – to make something amazing in response to this theme.
You are welcome to submit work for both “Treasures” and “In Praise of Vessels”. Entry forms are available at the NMM Art Museum, 1 Park Drive, Central, Port Elizabeth. You can also email us and we will send you an entry form.
Completed artworks must be delivered to the Main Hall of the NMM Art Museum between 09:00 – 16:00 on 7 June.
