Wildside Divers Divefest 2016

The annual Noordhoek Skiboat Club divefest will take place over four days this year from 16 to 19 June 2016.

2016 will be the 20th Noordhoek Dive Festival since its inception in 1996.

In 2015 the Noordhoek Dive Festival broke all records and established itself as South Africa’s top Dive Festival with 850 Dives.

As the country’s top Dive Festival, it offers a wonderful platform for commercial penetration into the market it attracts. The strength of the Noordhoek Dive Festival is based on the extent of its history & festive atmosphere.

This year’s goal is to record 900 Dives over the four days.

The annual divefest encourages divers to get back into the water and enjoy some of the best, most beautiful and amazing reefs in the world. The varied photographic competitions help expose Algoa Bay to national and international divers and encourage them to make the pilgrimage to South Africas pre-eminent “WINTER DIVE FESTIVAL”. Algoa Bay attracts Divers from all over the world to Port Elizabeth

Programme:

  • Daily – Thursday to Sunday: 06h00 Dive Booking Registration opens
  • Daily – 08h00: First dive boat departs, 6 x 8m RIB with 10 divers per boat; 5 trips per boat
  • Daily – Music and DJ with evening social gathering
  • Daily – Food stalls and fun with lucky draws hourly
  • Thursday – 18h00: DAN Medical talk on safety for Divers not using Scuba Tanks by Dr Danilo Cialoni
  • Friday – 18h00: DAN Medical talk on safety for Scuba divers by Massimo Pieri
  • Saturday – 17h00: Prizes for Divers, Skippers, DM and helpers

The following stalls will be manned at the 2016 Noordhoek Dive Festival:

  • DAN – Divers Alert Network – Scuba Diving Medical Safety Advice
  • PADI – Professional Association of Diving Instructors
  • HOPE SPOT – An international aware program for the safety of Wildlife at sea
  • ProDive – South African Based professional Dive Operation and International Diving tours
  • ODIA – Ocean Divers International Adventure
  • SURG Southern Underwater Research Group
  • NSRI – National Sea Rescue Institute
  • WCA – Wild Coast Abalone Farming and Anti-poaching Task Force Unit
  • AWS – Africa Water Scuba
  • Mike Dive Shop – Scuba & Diving Equipment and Dive air refills

Divers will be encouraged to take part in three photographic competitions encompassing: Best underwater reef picture, Best underwater sea creature picture and Best land based action picture – one more motivation for Nelson Mandela Bay to claim the moniker as “The Underwater Photography Capital of the World“.

All proceeds from the Noordhoek Dive Festival will be donated to the NSRI (National Sea Rescue Institute)
