The National Lottery Operator, ITHUBA, confirms that one lucky online player has won the LOTTO jackpot from the 16 May 2020 draw. The LOTTO winner bagged an impressive R16,826,525.20 making them one of the biggest LOTTO jackpot winners for 2020.
The player used the National Lottery website, www.nationallottery.co.za, to play their winning LOTTO numbers of 08, 10, 15, 27, 30, 49 and bonus number 06. The winner played two tickets on the day, one for R40 using the manual selection method and another for R20 to play the quick pick method, which was the lucky winning ticket. Since the national lockdown was announced, online player participation has increased, with now over 900 000 registered players.
This latest winner will be able to claim their winnings once the lockdown has been lifted. “We ask the winner for patience because they have to wait longer than usual before they can claim their winnings. Our Winners Service Department will be on hand to welcome and host the winner, and ensure that the claiming process is seamless and stress-free. As part of the experience, ITHUBA provides all winners above R50 000 with free financial advice and trauma counselling to help winners deal with these life-changing moments”, said Khensani Mabuza, Corporate Relations Executive at ITHUBA.
To play online, players need to log on to www.nationallottery.co.za and register an account. They can then click on “my wallet” to deposit money into their wallets and follow the prompts. Once they have successfully topped up their wallets, they can select the game they would like to play – the registration process takes less than five minutes to complete.
Benefits of playing on the National Lottery website, National Lottery mobile App and Banking partner digital channels, not only offer the convenience of playing in the comfort of your home but winnings under R50 000 are paid directly into your online wallet or bank account, depending on play channel used.
“In line with the lockdown regulations announced by the President, ITHUBA continues to firmly urge players to utilise the National lottery digital platforms as Lottery sales are not permitted at retailers,” Mabuza said.
