Please Help me out – How can the SAHRC move immediately against Agrizzi?
Bosasa whistle blower Angelo Agrizzi has had the entire country on tenterhooks as he has detailed bribe after bribe sanctioned by Gavin Watson and his cult BOSASA at the State Capture Commission.
The question on everyone’s lips has been; “When will the authorities act against the bribers and bribees?”
The talking heads have said all along that the NPA and SAPS and our other forms of law and order can only act publicly at the conclusion of the State Capture Commission.
Which kinda makes sense but also gives all involved the chance to intimidate witnesses and hide even more wrongdoing ahead of their REMOTELY POSSIBLE arrest.
One wonders if Agrizzi was banking on the same thing happening when he admitted; “I am a racist, I admit it, I am sorry.”
Apparently the Human Rights Commission does not have to wait for the other crimes to be fully presented at the State Capture Commission and has signaled it’s intent to initiate legal proceedings against Agrizzi.
“The commission finds this conduct particularly egregious, hurtful, uncalled for and it is the kind of instance which would embolden like-minded individuals if no action is taken or sanction meted out,” SAHRC spokesperson Gail Smith said in a statement on Wednesday.
Let’s have some consistency in the country and have someone representing law and order (NPA? Anyone?) saying; “This wholesale bribery and corruption is critically damaging to the country and is the kind of criminality which would embolden like-minded individuals if no action is taken or sanction meted out immediately.”
Make no mistake – what Agrizzi said is uncalled for.
The question has to be asked though; “Is the SAHRC’s impending action against Agrizzi going to give those implicated in bribery and corruption one more excuse to get away with it?”
Surely in a case of multiple charges in a court of law the judge waits until all evidence is presented before he/she pronounces sentence?
