It has now spread/moved to upper avenues of Heugh Rd. Not a comrade in sight and the traffic department are lying low (as always).

Emailed update: A Saps member has been attacked by the mob near Villiers Road/9th Ave
Walmer, but SAPS leadership has told the SAPS not to take action yet,
until the counselor has addressed them, even though it IS an illegal
    strike/march/gathering.

As posted by Derick Spies of Metro News:

We have the power, and we will use it. We will make the city
ungovernable, even though we do not contribute towards its tax base,
provide it with any revenue or contribute positively to its development
in any way. We will take what is given to us for free, even though
someone else will have to pay for it without receiving, and we will
demand more. If we are not given what we demand, we will destroy what we
already have to show our anger, despite the fact that it leaves us with
less than what we had to start with. Further, we will continue to elect
those who are prepared to keep things this way, irrespective of the
fact that they line their own pockets in the process, as long as we get
what we deem is ours by right. We do not care about the long term
implications of our actions, we want instant gratification. If you are
not prepared to provide it, there is someone else who will.  Sincerely
    yours. The Masses.

If those that cannot and don’t pay for services can be this pee’d off, why can those of us who can and do pay for our (and their) services not show even greater anger? It is high time that the DA take control of our metro and country. We cannot afford to waste another day in allowing the theft of our country’s resources and future….

Update: at about 10:00 am a truck was been set alight at the Arlington tip. Saps and Fire
Services were being blocked by the community from entering and assisting
    the driver of the truck.

Where is the police helicopter? My guess is that it is either unable to fly because it has yet to be serviced, it is out of fuel, or likely to have been “comandeered” for a jaunt to Bisho

An emailed update: Day 2 of the riots in Walmer and the ‘POPS’ unit of the SAPS request more Nyala’s (armored vehicles) be sent to the Walmer area. The reply is that the unit does have 11 Nyala’s, of which 9 of them are mechanically unfit. Now what?

In that event, send in the ANC politicians who have allowed these problems to propogate in the first instance.

Voter education is needed in all schools, educate the youth so that they can educate there parents.

The Gov has no money-the poor can burn the town to the ground, if the money is not there they will never get 1% of what they want.
