Veliswa Mvenya submits candidates list

20 February 2017 By Alan Straton

Some members of the Eastern Cape Democratic Alliance (DA) contesting internal party positions have personally submitted their nomination forms today as procedures dictate.

Today was the last day to submit nomination forms to the party’s Provincial Head Office in Mount Road, Central in NMBM.

The Party’s Congress is schedule to take place on 10th – 11th of March in East London.

The following members support Veliswa Mvenya and might be part of her new Provincial Leadership team after Congress elections:

Candidate for EC DA Provincial Leader:

Veliswa Mvenya, an ex-school teacher by profession, experienced MPL and Spokesperson for Local Government, Caucus Whip and current Provincial Chairperson.

She has a steadfast track record of growing the party all over the province, especially in the Transkei areas under very difficult conditions and with very little resources over the past 17 years.

Deputy Provincial Leader:

Terrence Fritz, construction company businessman, turned politician, current Councillor and long serving Caucus Leader in Buffalo City Metro.

Deputy Provincial Leader:

Lodewyk Gallant, well-known long service Deputy School Principal from PE Northern areas, Councillor in NMBM council and current DA Provincial Executive Committee Deputy Chairperson.

Provincial Chairperson:

Gustav Rautenbach, long service party member for almost 20 years, currently the Ward Councillor for Lorraine area in NMBM council and experienced party positional leader.

Deputy Provincial Chairperson:

Celeste Barker, representing Queenstown area, passionate Human Rights Activist, ex Language and Communications Educator, current DA Women’s Network Provincial Chairperson, MPL and Spokesperson for Health in EC Provincial Legislature.

Deputy Provincial Chairperson:

Desmond Petersen, current Mayoral Committee Member for Infrastructure, Planning and Development in the DA controlled Kouga Local Municipality, current Ward Councillor and current member of the EC DA Provincial Council with qualifications in the fields of Chemistry and Engineering.

Deputy provincial chairperson:

Kobus Botha, representing Cradock area, long serving firebrand, experienced leader, current member of the EC DA Provincial Council, MPL and Spokesperson for Social Development in EC Provincial Legislature.

“The team above holds dearly to the principles and values of Freedom, Fairness and Opportunity for all. We are committed to retain existing support but we are also focused on taking the organisation’s vision and mission into strong ANC areas in this province,” said Veliswa Mvenya.

“The candidates on this list agree that the DA is the only political party that is big enough to wrestle control of the province from the ANC come 2019 elections. We will establish a government that works with and for the people; a government that builds trust by promoting the public good; a government that takes the province forward and brings hope to the lost generation in our Eastern Cape. The DA will be that government,” concluded Mvenya.
