Unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF) Commissioner, Teboho Maruping, will host employers and business owners who operate in and around Gqeberha on Monday 17 April 2023 at the Court Yard Hotel as part of the UIF’s continued efforts to educate and engage with employers about the Fund’s legislation, systems and processes with the aim of improving compliance with the Unemployment Insurance Act and rendering superior customer service to UIF clients.
The session will also see the Commissioner deliberating on the Fund’s key priorities for the current, 2023/2024 financial year, and providing an update on phase 2 of the Covid-19 TERS “follow the money” project. The UIF launched the “follow the money” project after it paid out nearly R64 billion in Covid-19 relief funds to employers who had to distribute the money to their employees during and after the Covid-19 lockdowns. The aim of the project is to audit and determine if all monies reached their intended beneficiaries at the right time. At the session, the officials from the Department of Employment & Labour will reveal findings on workplace inspections conducted in the Eastern Cape province, during the 2022/2023 financial year.
