Trucks stoned in Markman

16 February 2011 By Alan Straton

Trucks trying to do deliveries were stoned outside Truckers Inn, Markman Industrial Estate this morning in the midst of a drivers strike by the South African Transport and Allied Workers’ Union. A  truck from Rest Assured was pelted with half bricks causing a enormous amount of damage.

The drivers did a hasty retreat back to their warehouse.

No report on whether the drivers were injured in the incident is forthcoming as of yet. This is another example of the barbaric nature of these brainless strikers, who have no thought for life and fellow road users. It is about time now,  that the Government interfere and step in and ban these Unions that create havoc and disrupt our economy. It seems every month now, a different Union takes to the street in what is fast becoming a monthly norm.

The Unions need to take responsibilty for their Union Members and stop saying that the perpetrators are not “their” Union Members. If the Government wants to create jobs, they need to control the Unions. Its coming to a point where no business wants to employ more staff for fear of striking.

Any strike that results in any degree of violence/intimidation should immediately be declared illegal and the union as well as it’s representatives held legally and financially liable. Big business is evil, but big labour has equally dirty hands.
