In a tragic incident on August 2 2024,a local family’s home in Motherwell was engulfed by a fire, leaving them without a roof over their heads and all their belongings destroyed. In the wake of the disaster, the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality took immediate steps to investigate the situation and explore avenues to assist the affected family.
However, it was through the benevolence of Mr. Chippa United FC and Managing Director of the Chippa Mpengesi Foundation, that true relief came. Moved by the plight of Ms. Kholeka Budaza, who resided at No. 3 Tyamzashe Street, Motherwell, Gqeberha with her family. Mpegesi personally intervened, pledging to renovate the house and fully furnish it.
Thanks to the tireless efforts of the Chippa Mpengesi Foundation, the home has now been rebuilt and fully furnished. The family is set to receive the keys to their newly restored house today 1 October 2024, a gesture of compassion and community support spearheaded by Mpengesi.
“We believe in uplifting our communities and standing by our people in times of need, said Mpengesi. This home is not just a gift of bricks and mortar but a sign of solidarity with the families of Motherwel”.
This act of generosity underscores Chippa United FC and the Chippa Mpengesi Foundation’s ongoing commitment to making a meaningful difference in the communities they serve.
The Budaza family will niow have the opportunity to rebuild their lives, starting with a place they can once again call home.
