This Polish sailor has now landed twice in Port Elizabeth – by accident and not design. His job is to sail new boats around the world and test them in real conditions. On both times that he has landed at ABYC he has had to come in because of broken equipment. The latest time was due to a kinked mast – in a howling gale south of Port Elizabeth. Lucky for Port Elizabeth he is able to communicate through local members the Ochabskis as his English as as good as our Polish – non existent!

Passionate about Port Elizabeth and definitely NOT packing for Perth.
Alan's ethos is epitomised in the words of Nelson Mandela; "I have fought against white domination and I have fought against black domination. I have cherished the idea of a democratic and free society. If need be, it is an ideal for which I am prepared to die."
