The tweet that you see a bit further below is just a small example of what is wrong in our world – specifically our world of politics.

Simply put – Our politicians actually have the audacity to think that by pointing out each other’s faults they are doing what we elected them to do.

Examine any utterance from any politician from any party and you will see that most of the time they play a divisive blame game that speaks to our fears. I would hazard a guess to say that our politicians across the board are the most racist, xenophobic, rumour mongering, inept employees that we have ever had.

Ask any local politician to break down just how much time they spend on WARD BUSINESS as opposed to PARTY POLITICS?

I do not think I would be far off the mark if I say that that ratio is 80% PARTY POLITICS and 20% WARD BUSINESS.

Our Ward Councillors are at the COAL FACE of government and most of them have delusions of grandeur thinking that they are in Parliament debating policy.

FFS – local Ward Councillors need to be on the ground solving service delivery issues and, if necessary, getting their hands dirty organising clean ups AWAY from the glare of media and social media.

THAT is how you win hearts and minds and NOT by reminding people of their differences.

How do we fix this?

  • ONLY pay Ward Councillors for the actual time that they spend on WARD BUSINESS.
  • ONLY vote for Ward Councillor candidates that promise to put City First, Citizens Second and themselves right at the back of the queue.
