Dear Editor
Its wonderful to share the news about the Red Location Arts and Crafts Project – which is making a steady journey towards the economic sustainability of the unemployed, especially those people living around the Red Location Cultural Precinct. The stage where we are at currently, is to share as many creative skills with the Project participants as possible – towards empowering them to eventually not only producing branded products for the Red Location Cultural Precinct, but to furthermore enable them to share these skills with their families, loved ones and other community members at large. The project is ultimately dedicated to God and we are blessed to experience a multitude of blessings pouring in!
Last week the project was adopted by a great South African Arts initiative (with International partnership) with the approval and blessings by the Ward Councillor of Ward 15, Councillor Kolisile Frans – but more about this news as soon as official business has been concluded.
The Red Location Arts and Crafts project is furthermore privileged to have Angie Frankie from the Diaz Quilters Guild joining us – in sharing her excellent creative skills. Angie has co-produced a number of books on making Arts and Crafts – and last week Friday she facilitated a workshop with our project – on creating stunning textile flowers! Angie is planning to join us again this coming Friday – to teach our women something very spectacular! But more about that later..
We also want to extend our sincerest appreciation to the Diaz Quilters Guild for all the support and donations. Last week Friday we received a donation of two more sewing machines! Thank you to all the members of the Diaz Quilters Guild!
Regards
Annette Du Plessis
