Thank you for voting and the support

3 November 2021 By Alan Straton

Dear NMB (and especially Ward 7) Residents

I am not someone who likes the limelight, preferring to work backstage and let others shine.

I am someone who prefers to under promise and over deliver whilst supporting the ‘underdog’, the ‘smaller guy’ with principles and a work ethic.

So standing for election for a new movement (AIM – Abantu Integrity Movement) whose principles resonated with mine was a new experience for me. Stepping into the limelight and standing for principles along with a collection of similar like minded Community Builders was a journey that allowed me to grow immensely.

My deepest feelings are buried somewhere in my reply to this question I answered earlier today;

“Hi Alan, well done on standing for Ward 7! I was wondering if I backed the right horse?”

My reply contained sentiments which I know all of you share:

“Hi Mark – Thank You. At the moment the horse feels like a donkey that has riden a hard race. The feeling from our opposition and the media is that we have made a difference in the ‘political’ landscape. The feeling from most who stood in their wards is that they have learned a valuable lesson in how to defend their communities and MORE IMPORTANTLY most are determined to continuing building their immediate communities WHILST being the official ‘opposition’ in each ward. SO, I suppose I can say that your vote of confidence has contributed to strengthening my and everyone else’s resolve to continue contributing to making our Metro the best.”

Thank you for being the most awesome selfless supporters I could ever have wished to run this race with.
