ANC Statement on Racist E-Mail

11 June 2013 By Port Elizabethan

Local news reports have revealed the obvious racist views that are held by the Democratic Alliance (DA). One of the DA's senior Nelson Mandela Bay Councillors, Stanford Slabbert is guilty of spreading racist DA propaganda which, among other things, insults the President, insults Black people, and insults all South Africans in general. Whilst we have come to expect such racism from elements within the DA, we are particularly disturbed by the blatantly offensive language displayed in this … [Read more...] about ANC Statement on Racist E-Mail

4 June 2013 By Ward1

Erf 8 - Mount Pleasant

The owner of ERF 8, Mount Pleasant (55 Buffelsfontein Road, Mount Pleasant through to 38 Greenways, Lovemore Heights) has applied for rezoning from Residential 1 to Residential 3 to allow the development of 24 (TWENTY FOUR) Sectional title units on this property of 1952 square metres. This development equates to a footprint of 81 square metres per unit, and that is without even making allowance for vehicular traffic. Urgent: IDP meeting Tonight

7 May 2013 By Ward1

Last nights IDP meeting at the Walmer Town Hall was called off after 50 minutes of fruitless debate after angry Walmer township residents voiced their opinions and queried why the meeting was not being held in the township itself. This after numerous requests by both residents and DA councillors to schedule a special meeting within Walmer Township itself, for these residents. They have specific challenges that must be resolved soonest. ANC councillors who were present agreed to schedule … [Read more...] about Urgent: IDP meeting Tonight

Newton Park pool debacle just the tip of the iceberg!

23 April 2013 By Port Elizabethan

Dear Sir The sad and embarrassing debacle that hit the Metro last week with the fiasco surrounding the SA Swimming Nationals can only be blamed on the ruling party in this Metro, the ANC. They must take full responsibility for the mismanagement of this wonderful sporting facility, as they decide on cadre deployment, budgets, priorities and planning. It is all very well to say no person is to blame, and "we will do everything to ensure that this does not happen again", but the sad reality … [Read more...] about Newton Park pool debacle just the tip of the iceberg!

Letter to the New City Manager

14 March 2013 By Port Elizabethan

Good Evening Please note my strongest objection to the total incompetence of your bungling officials who are a disgrace to this Metro. What disciplinary steps will be instituted against these bunglers? Your urgent response is awaited. What excuse do we give to our frustrated … [Read more...] about Letter to the New City Manager

Petition to unban Sardinia Bay beach bathing ban

19 October 2012 By Ward1

Arrogant, incompetent and stupid, is how Ward 1 Councillor Stanford Slabbert described the recent decision of the Sport Art Recreation and Culture Standing Committee to ban bathing at Sardinia Bay Beach. At the meeting on 6th September, the ANC majority voted to support Beach Manager Fernando Cain's proposal to commission an independent Risk Assessment of Nelson Mandela Bay beaches, plus to prohibit bathing at Sardinia Bay Beach and relocate the current car park subject to EIA … [Read more...] about Petition to unban Sardinia Bay beach bathing ban

Summerstrand Water Crisis Update

7 August 2012 By Ward1

Stanford Slabbert writes: With regards my last updated email from yesterday 5.30pm. The NMBM JOC Centre did confirm that the entire Metro will be with water last evening. I have been sadly surprised, as you all, to find out that the water saga was not finished this morning. The NMBM Water Department is still sitting in a meeting to solve the water problem for Summerstrand and other suburbs in the city. Two reservoirs are supplying Summerstrand, one supplies water for the bottom of … [Read more...] about Summerstrand Water Crisis Update
