Evil personified is destroying the landscape of the human soul

4 June 2013 By Alan Straton

Fowlds Player Muir

Speaking at the launch of the ik-stingkt exhibition at the Ron Belling Art Gallery today, conservationist icon Dr Ian Player, made a stiring and impassioned plea to save the Rhino. So stirring in fact that I for once was rendered immobile and still as I slaked my wild thirst on his words. Player's famous words distil his message; "It is only through a global campaign and political will that we can save this remnant of the dinosaur age", "We've lost that sacred connection with the earth", … [Read more...] about Evil personified is destroying the landscape of the human soul

25 October 2012 By Alan Straton

Sian O'Keeffe and Andrew Muir

A passion for the wilderness, and compassion for the plight of rhinos is what motivated Sian O'Keeffe to initiate an event to raise funds for anti-poaching efforts. Motivated by veterinarian Dr William Fowlds' regular written reports on the progress of Thandi the rhino, Sian approached a number of his contacts with the Rhino Run concept. The idea received immediate support from trail running organisers around the country, and took place successfully on 22 September this year. A total of 1753 … [Read more...] about Sian O’Keeffe Rhino Initiative Raises R130 000

Frankies Wins Against Woolworths

Woolworths VS Frankies

Take that Sister-in-Law. When MyPE published the story about Woolworths copying Frankies product and placing it on their shelves (after negotiating with Frankies to carry their line) - see: Frankies Fiery Ginger Beer Fury Reveals a Pattern of 'Stealing' - my Sister-in-Law, the Big W apologist, came out heavily in favour of Woolworths (she also supported them against me when Woolworths trampled all over the copyright of a video in their rush to make money out of bleeding hearts, see: Did … [Read more...] about Frankies Wins Against Woolworths

International Rhino Day

21 September 2011 By Alan Straton

Thursday 22 September is International Rhino Day and we should all spare a thought for the almost 300 rhino's that have been viciously slaughtered for their horns here in South Africa this year. Seeing photographs of a baby rhino nuzzling up to the decaying carcass of its poached mother is an image that will stay with me forever. It justifies calls for the immediate moratorium on all rhino hunting as corruption within the government and "the system" allows convicted poachers to get away … [Read more...] about International Rhino Day
