South Africans have been encouraged to dedicate 67 minutes of their time this Mandela Month to clean their communities. Belated Friday Rant: Nelson Mandela Memorial Service
This has bothered me for a while now. We all agree that Nelson Mandela ascended into a universal icon - a steadying hand that bound all of us together regardless of political affiliation. In his last years he rose above petty party politics as a revered elder statesman. A while ago our local municipality defended their spending on the memorial service held for Nelson Mandela on 13 December 2013 as justifiable. As ratepayers we are not going to begrudge any send off for a man of such great … [Read more...] about Belated Friday Rant: Nelson Mandela Memorial Service
Top 15 Port Elizabeth Videos in 2013
For the purposes of this exercise we had a look at the Top 15 viewed YouTube videos with a Port Elizabeth 'connection' that were uploaded during 2013. Mindful of the fact that many would have been uploaded early in the year we also created a trendline for each of the Top 15 by creating a weight for each. This was done by dividing the number of views by the number of weeks that each has been available for during 2013. For example a video that was published 6 months ago received a weighting of … [Read more...] about Top 15 Port Elizabeth Videos in 2013
The Mandela Myth

Events are being linked to any numer of conspiracy theories centred on 'outside' or 'inner circle forces' that set out to keep Mandela alive. People are setting out to create division in our country, politicise and polarise what has happened. What really happened here? A man who could have left prison bitter and vengeful chose the path of … [Read more...] about The Mandela Myth
