Dear MyPE Yesterday, 10 December 2020, the Democratic Alliance (DA) filed an affidavit at the Humewood Police Station in support of a request for a criminal investigation into the alleged kidnapping of the Nelson Mandela Bay Speaker, Cllr Buyelwa Mafaya. This follows after three men seemingly forcibly removed the Speaker from a Nelson Mandela Bay council sitting that took place at City Hall on 4 December 2020. High Court upholds order for Speaker to call council meeting to elect NMB Mayor

Dear MyPE The Port Elizabeth High Court has upheld its earlier decision that the Nelson Mandela Bay Speaker, ANC Cllr Buyelwa Mafaya, must call a council meeting to elect an Executive Mayor within seven days. The Democratic Alliance (DA) welcomes the judgment handed down by Judge Irma Schoeman yesterday that in the main dismissed the Municipality’s appeal against the earlier court order. DA clarifies report regarding Bhanga’s alleged misuse of NMB municipal vehicle

Dear MyPE The Democratic Alliance (DA) wishes to clarify a recent misleading report implying that DA Eastern Cape Provincial Leader, Cllr Nqaba Bhanga, misused a municipal vehicle and that this alleged misuse led to the tragic death of two people. Dear MyPE The Democratic Alliance (DA) has, as previously reported, brought an application in the High Court to set aside the election of the Ward committees of the Nelson Mandela Bay Metro (NMBM) due to the irregular and unjust method with which the process was undertaken.
