Overloading school children in taxis is one of the major factors leading to tragedy and serious accidents. Authorities in the Nelson Mandela Metro are clamping down on drivers in order to prevent overloading. This morning, 6 February 2018 at about 07:00, SAPS Kwadwesi members stopped a Quantum taxi in the area and found that instead of the normal 15 seater passenger requirement, 50 children were squashed into the taxi. Three day-old Baby Girl found abandoned in Kwadwesi
Yesterday, 17 October 2017 a three (3) day old baby girl was found in the bushes at Kwadwesi Extention. At about 16:00 two children playing in the bushes heard the cries of a baby in the bushes and found a baby girl who was partially covered in soil. They alerted the police and the baby girl was taken to Dora Nginza Hospital in Port Elizabeth where she is recovering and cared for. Water shutdown in Kwamagxaki and Kwadwesi
The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality would like to inform residents and businesses that the water supply to KwaDwesi and KwaMagxaki will be cut off on Thursday, June 8, 2017 from 9h00 am. Technicians will be repairing a leak on the main supply pipeline to KwaMagxaki and KwaDwesi. It is envisaged that this work will take the whole day. The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality would like to apologize for any inconvenience caused due to repair work currently being carried out due to pipe bursts over the weekend in the KwaDwesi and Joe Slovo areas. Water supply to KwaDwesi is expected to be restored by close of business today.
