Port Elizabeth – DA councillor Chris Roberts, who was fined R10 000 for calling a colleague in the UDM a "bobbejaan" (baboon), wrote an email to another councillor explaining that he had done so in jest and meant no harm. Roberts was responding to axed DA councillor, Knight Mali, who wrote Roberts an email about the damaging and hurtful comment, made toward UDM councillor, Mongameli Bobani, at a council meeting in Nelson Mandela Bay mid-last year. Political interference and mismanagement continues in the metro
The DA has reliably learned that a motion of no-confidence was submitted against the current City Manager. The motion is due to be tabled at the next council sitting. The DA has since discovered that these posters have been erected without obtaining the required permission. The DA is calling on the ANC to abide by the law and remove the illegally erected posters. Cllr Knight Mali … [Read more...] about Illegal Posters all over Metro
DA firmly supports the move to acquire the land in Walmer
We also urge the officials involved and relevant local authority to speed-up this process and keep Walmer township residents informed of the period it would take to deliver those houses. Over-and-above this, we also support the move to identify more suitable land which the council owns already and which would cost less to develop. An example is the controversial Madiba Bay resort land which is now linked to the Kabuso forensic report. Our view is that our metro should also develop this … [Read more...] about DA firmly supports the move to acquire the land in Walmer
Better funding for tourism to boost job creation in Nelson Mandela Bay needed
Tourism is regarded as one of major stimulants of the economy and can also be used as a driver of sustainable job creation. Many developing countries, particularly the Caribbean Islands in Asia, as well as Pacific nations, have built their economies using tourism as a bedrock. Their infrastructural projects are funded with tourism in mind. This strategy cascades through to all spheres of government, including the municipal level. It is therefore no wonder that those countries can continue to … [Read more...] about Better funding for tourism to boost job creation in Nelson Mandela Bay needed
