African Penguins are released from Extreme Projects Super Duck and SANParks Malusi Duck. 72 previously oiled penguins were released near to St Croix on 15 September 2016 in a Joint Venture between SANCCOB, SANParks, NSRI and Extreme Projects. The penguins were oiled in the latter part of August after a miscreant ship scrubbed illegally. Biggest Penguin Release
In a co-ordinated release between SANCCOB, SANParks, NSRI and Extreme Projects 72 previously oil soiled penguins were released just off of St Croix Island today. This follows on from an oil spill in Algoa Bay during August 2016 after which, on Sunday 21 August, 92 oiled African Penguins and 61 penguin chicks were admitted to the Southern African Foundation for the Conservation of Coastal Birds (SANCCOB) centre in Cape St Francis.
