This is as a result of an amendment to the sectoral determination which establishes minimum wages for employees in the Domestic Worker Sector. Domestic Worker Minimum Salary Increases for 2016
Labour Minister Mildred Oliphant on Monday announced that wages in the domestic worker sector will be adjusted upwards from 1 December 2015. The increase is in terms of Sectoral Determination 7. An employee that works more than 27 hours in Area A (major metropolitan areas) should be paid no less than an hourly rate of R11.44, R514.82 weekly and R2 230.70 per month.
