On Thursday the Disaster Management Centre handed out 1530 blankets, 704 mattresses and 15 bags of soup to more than 2000 people affected. The Groendal dam is currently overflowing at 118% and as a result the levels of the Swartkops River are still rising. Dear All Thank you for your outstanding response so far. It has been wonderful. The long and the short of it is that it is very volatile out there at the moment. The residents are angry and demanding action, which is not happening. We feel it is too dangerous to take volunteers in there en masse today, as there will be a stampede.
