New Year’s Day drownings: Four dead, three missing
Four people, including a teenager, have died and three have gone missing in several drowning incidents on New Year's Day. A 17-year-old Grahamstown male drowned in Port Alfred, while an elderly man was declared dead in the Bay Hall Area, Richards Bay Port, the National Sea Rescue Institute said in a statement. A private trucking contractor ran into a bit of difficulty this morning between 08h20 and 09h00 when the load he was transporting got stuck under a bridge. The driver, who doesn't want to be named, said he came off the Albany Road offramp onto the M4 in direction of Deal Party and realised that the Green Street bridge was lower than he thought. Cotswold N2 Bypass Accident
A horse belonging to Roadwing and a trailer overturned on the N2 bypass between Cotswold off ramp and Stanford Road on ramp, in the direction of Deal Party. The accident happened at roughly 13h00 on Thursday 16 February 2012, causing traffic to almost come to a stand still. The exact cause of the accident and extent of injuries to the driver are unknown at this stage.
