Two Eastern Province and SA Women's Cricket players, Dane van Niekerk and Marizanne Kapp have been contracted to play in the inaugural Women's Big Bash League taking place in December in Australia. They are the only two South Africans to sign full contracts. Dane who at the young age of 16 captained the SA U19's Women's team will be playing for the Mebourne Renegades. Female Cricketers Shown Men the Way
The Eastern Province Cricket Academy is currently underway and in a ground breaking move the Academy has this year accepted two female cricketers for the 2013 Academy year. The ladies who are both active provincial and national cricketers will join the previously male only Academy.
