With ticket in hand I was prepared to watch the EP Kings play the Boland Cavaliers in the battle of the Vodacom up also-rans at the Nelson Mandlea Bay Stadium on Friday last. Then I made the rookie mistake of sitting down in fronmt of the big screen and promptly fell asleep only to awake too late to make my way down to the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium. That is what you get for getting up at 3:00 am and going to work. Anyway it appears that my actions resulted in EP's lonely 2nd win of the … [Read more...] about I should fall asleep before the game more often

SWD put the nail in the coffin
The EP kings now only have to play for tattered pride going into the dying stages of the 2014 Vodacom Cup. A rather dismal 5 game record of 1 won, 4 lost, 116 points for, 133 points against and only 7 points to secure 5th place on the Southern log paints a depressing picture for our rugger buggers from the Eastern Province. Combining the points from both the Northen and Southern sections paints an even more depressing picture as our paltry 7 points would put us at 12th place out of 16 … [Read more...] about SWD put the nail in the coffin

Disappointment for EP Kings
The Regent Boland Cavaliers dominated the first half against the EP Kings at the NMB Stadium in Port Elizabeth on 26 July 2013 and earned a valuable 20-11 lead for their efforts. They inflated this to 30-11 after the break thanks to a converted try by SA President’s XV back Jacquin Jansen and flyhalf Len Olivier’s third penalty. But the balance of power shifted soon after as the Cavaliers made a comedy of errors which allowed the Kings to dictate play. With momentum on their side they … [Read more...] about Disappointment for EP Kings

EP Kings Still Ahead in Currie Cup First Division
With the euphoria of a great weekend's test rugby behind us it is time once again for the local rugby public to focus once more on our Eastern Province team working hard to ascend into Super Rugby from the Absa Currie Cup First Division, which is a two horse race at the moment, with the EP Kings and Regent Boland Cavaliers leading the pack at the end of the first round. The EP Kings, still unbeaten this season, had a bye this week, but the Cavaliers closed the gap at the top of the standings … [Read more...] about EP Kings Still Ahead in Currie Cup First Division
